Issey Miyake’s conquest of Europe
Issey Miyake was born in 1938 in Hiroshima and has grew up in Japan in the particular context of the post-war period. After a difficult childhood, marked by illness and the death of his mother, Issey Miyake forged a strong character and endowed with an unfailing optimism. In 1958, he decided to study design in Tokyo, at the University of Fine Arts. This is how he became interested in fashion and clothing manufacturing. From the 60s, Issey Miyake became an artist in his own right and was firmly determined to revolutionize the world of fashion. To do this, he left Japan and arrived in Paris in 1965. He entered the world of haute couture houses and notably joined Guy Laroche and Givenchy, two brands allowing him to impose his own style. Issey Miyake also confided that his first years in Paris were decisive for him and that they served as a springboard for his future career. Indeed, this is where he draws on the hippie style of 1969 before returning to Japan to create his first collection. There he was revolutionary, creating sewing pieces from any basic material. His ingenuity immediately dazzled the public.
Issey Miyake and her perfumes
However, despite a great success in the world of couture, it was not until the 90s that Issey Miyake decides to expand his activity. Thus, he developed his very first perfume in 1992, remaining in the same line as for his couture creations. Indeed, each product from the house of Issey Miyake is avant-garde, showing itself as a clever blend of art, architecture and daring. Issey Miyake’s first perfume was aimed at the fairer sex. It was an aquatic flower inspired by a Japanese bath and named Eau d’Ussey. It was followed in 1994 by its version for men, followed by L’Eau Bleue d’Ussey in 2004 or Eau d’Issey pour Homme Intense. Issey Miyake has been offering scent variations for several years now, revolving around femininity, art and nature. Indeed, it is in the heart of nature that Issey Miyake finds his inspiration. He uses the latter to express his emotions and feelings. Likewise, Issey Miyake never stops working in the territory of exploration. Each of its fragrances is part of a kind of personal and spiritual quest. Likewise, as an extension of this love for nature, Issey Miyake recently launched the #Explorenature project in the form of a video showing how man interacts with his environment and is strengthened by it. Thus, Issey Miyake perfumes are a kind of epic highlighting the purest ingredient there is: water.
